For just on a week now, Facebook had banned news, news pages and news links in Australia and not a single journalistic source had been able to explain what went on and why. That kid called Zuckerberg who pissed off America’s rich by becoming an overnight billionaire with a product that does nothing—thereby fomenting their greed that became the Global Financial Crisis—has blocked my little website from posting to my Facebook Wall in Australia. Parler and the Death Knell for Mainstream Extremist Communication

Parler, the Twitter alternative platform marketed to those desiring unmoderated posting across subjects including abject racism, anti-Semitism and misogyny had its app banned by Google Play’s store yesterday. It was just banned by Apple’s App Store a couple of hours go. Worse for the Alt-Right, Amazon Web Services just announced pulling it’s hosting services for Parler too. Meaning unless Parler can find an alternative lifeline for its website and servers—like an off-shore fortified hub in Europe—its extremist users will be forced back onto the Dark Web, or Ultra-Nationalist website chat groups where they’ve been festering for decades—while to the chagrin of the MAGA mob there lacks the all-important mainstream reach and ease. Predicting Netflix’s The Social Dilemma Eight Years Ago

In 2012, a confluence of events in the burgeoning Social Media space inspired the coming together of one of my favourite articles.

It was just one of those unintended moments when a book, a magazine article, a nightly news piece and one of the world’s most anticipated stock market floats gelled. The icing was having it picked up by one of Australia’s award-winning weekly newspapers.

What’s uncanny, is that eight years later, Netflix has seen fit to produce a powerhouse of a documentary called The Social Dilemma. Watching it just now, I nearly fell off my chair when I realised I’d not only foreshadowed its very underpinnings, I’d read and quoted one of its key participants.

So, rather than transcribing it here, I thought I’d simply post it as it appeared in the paper below. A pinch and zoom capable device may make it more readable if need be (the irony). I hope you enjoy. Its message is more relevant than it’s ever been.
