Observers of the Middle East noted the ludicrousness of UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s idea for a Palestinian state that he announced this week. He said that if Hamas releases Israel’s hostages still in captivity going on two years now, his UK will not declare a Palestinian State next month, but if they keep those hostages in their Gaza cells until September, his UK will declare a State of Palestine unequivocally. That fiasco is only matched by my surprise last year at the official antisemitic rhetoric of the Republic of Ireland in support of Hamas, leading to the closure of the Israeli embassy in Dublin.
