Australian Hospital Hides Patient’s Jewish Identity for Her Protection Rekindling Nazi Era Memories

This is a story that should bring down the Chris Minns Government of New South Wales. A Jewish woman injured in last December’s Bondi massacre was taken to Liverpool Hospital in Western Sydney for surgery. The hospital admitted her, erased her religion and changed her Jewish-sounding name to “Karen Jones” to “protect” her.

The hospital did not ask the patient, Rosalia Shikhverg, for her permission. Instead, as she told Sky News Australia who broke the story, the hospital said the name change was needed for her “protection from the media”. Worse, the hospital then prescribed Schedule 8 Controlled narcotics to her under this false identity.
The patient told Sky Australia’s political editor, Andrew Clennell, with her heavy accent that after her operation, “I was thinking I had to be discharged very quick because I couldn’t eat, I couldn’t drink, I cry all the time.”
I was scared.
Asked what she thought the hospital’s motivation really was—what it was that the hospital really feared—she said, “In my opinion they were afraid of staff. Not media. They can’t trust their own staff.”
This belief stemmed from two self-proclaimed Muslim nurses at Western Sydney’s Bankstown Hospital being charged last year for a notorious pro-Palestine social media video in which they threatened to kill any Jew under their care. One boasted he had already done so making a throat-cutting gesture while using the Islamic word for hell. Both are awaiting trial and have pleaded not guilty.
The patient said that she doesn’t want an apology that both NSW’s health minister and the hospital district’s secretary have offered. “We need the action”, she said, “We need something to feel safe.”
Asked about her concern for other Jewish people she said:
What? Now Jewish people have to be afraid to go to public hospital?
She said, “We [her and her husband] live in Australia for almost half a century. We love Australia. It’s never happened before but last, I don’t know, two, three years Australia changed dramatically. So my opinion, there has to be something done.”
The victim is willing to testify under oath before a Royal Commission.
This terrible experience, directly related to—and prolonging—the pain of the world’s worst mass murder of Jews since Hamas attacked Israel in 2023, defines the Australia of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, whose Labor Party is accused of weaponising suburban ethnic enclaves for votes.
The main thing that we can say from this story is that a hospital in Western Sydney invoked memories of a Nazi era concept called “protective custody” for Jews.
It followed a sister hospital in the same district invoking memories of Hitler’s Brownshirt thugs roaming the streets sowing fear.
In 1933, these tools of political terror led to the opening of the first Nazi concentration camps.
These are politics that have never before been seen in Australia and are not welcome in our multicultural society. Either they go or Minns and Albanese must.
