If there’s a socialist geopolitical cabal in motion these days, it’s the left wing governments of the United Kingdom, France and Canada. They form the first tier of an opposition to Israel outside the Arab World.

The second tier includes their favourite sycophant Australia, whose foreign policy barely downplays Marxism, and the antisemitic socialist governments of Ireland, Spain and the Nordic bloc.

So, opening the news today, it’s no surprise that the UK, France and Canada released a joint statement on Gaza. France’s Macron has been teasing possible recognition of Palestine in June. The government X accounts of all have been boasting about the statement for hours.

Thing is, reading it, the world is right to ask, what on earth are they actually trying to say?

Before attempting that, we should note that they are right about one thing. In the current Israeli Netanyahu government are some disgusting voices—but I’ll come back to that later.

The order of demands in this statement is the key. To summarise:

  1. Israel is at fault. It must stop attacking Gaza to free its hostages and corpses. But see item 3.
  2. Yet Hamas must immediately release all Israeli hostages and corpses “cruelly” held. Or what? – Nothing.
  3. Israel has a right to defend itself in item 1 but cannot defeat Hamas nor force it to do item 2.
  4. It’s not just about Gaza after all. It’s about the West Bak where the Palestinian Authority reigns.
  5. Qatar that funds and physically domiciles Hamas’s leadership is now the peacemaker.
  6. Qatar will actually help achieve a Two-State solution even though it hasn’t for decades in favour of lucrative terrorism.
  7. The Palestinian Authority is going to form the new government in Gaza even though Mahmoud Abbas is somehow worth $100 million, and the PA once used the same hospital terror tunnels as Hamas.
  8. UNRWA must be protected.

What does this mean?

Reality is in a couple of weeks’ time the UK, France, Canada, Australia, Spain, Ireland, South Africa and many of the Nordic bloc will “recognise” a Palestinian State that does not exist.

They will do so while Israeli hostages remain in Gaza.

They will do so while the bodies of Israeli rape and murder victims are in their graves, yet, the cities of Europe, Australia and Canada display pro-Hamas stickers that “rape is resistance”.

They will do so despite their countries’ own children being abused (notoriously so in the UK) and their women being forced to hide their own bodies to dissuade the sexual tensions of men of an extremist Islamic culture.

They will pretend for their local electorates, that the Palestinian Authority is a partner in peace, that Qatar will be its guarantor, and that the Muslim Brotherhood of Egypt will consent.

This is their same dangerous game that predated October 7 2023, when Hamas invaded Israel.

So, what about those voices in Netanyahu’s government demanding the starvation of Gaza?

They are vile on their surface, but Europe and its allies have never understood the language of the Middle East despite their history of meddling in it.

The Middle East is a cultural language built on hubris, bluff, clan honour, family allegiances, pragmatism, and the will of God. The eye for an eye of the Bible came to be because of its truth there.

And Europe cannot fathom this despite its experience of Muslim conquests, Crusades, wars and subsequent nation building in response.

Europe, Canada and Australia need to step back and reclaim their own values first—that, imperfect as they are, have collectively defeated tyranny and elevated secular pluralism.

These are the values of Israel too. It’s Israel that permits a mosque on its Temple site and comprises millions of Muslims as its citizens.

This joint statement is nothing but domestic politics. It offers no logic, no incentives and no consequences.

The Arabs and Israelis will make Mideast peace. They have millennia of experience at it, and they will be incentivised by the world’s only superpower, the US.

The Palestinians, whom the Arabs tried to invent in 1948 after foregoing an Arab State alongside Israel for hubris’s sake, will then be told to oblige.

In truth, the Arab world still doesn’t want them. Egypt—the biblical sanctuary for both Jacob and Jesus—has literally walled them out.
