As the guns fell silent in armistice at 11 am on 11/11 1918, the world vowed it would witness its last war while it determined its victor: though when its victor was found its determination would never succeed.
Today, after endless wars since, we recall the sacrifice of millions 102 years ago, while we remember that war will always be the manifestation of politics “by other means”.
So long as one person seeks power over another, sometimes the sacrifice of millions will be the only reply.
As it is today in the USA, whose army in 1918 tipped the world towards that 11th hour on the 11th day on the 11th month, so that we will never forget.
That freedom from tyranny will never come cheaply whether in hearts or souls; that ultimate freedom always lives in the mind.

A morning with Lincoln.
